Lots of different messages in this photo.

As our wood turns into money, the value of a forest demolishes.
We are too centered to see the edge and what's happening there.

There must be something symbolic about this.

Definitely several messages here :)
I think it's very symbolic

Really interesting picture, I could write an entire diatribe about how this embodies the comercializam of the logging industry over natural resources, Or the irony of embodying the leaf on money and then cutting down so many trees.

The truth is however I think it's just an interesting picture, simple, expressive, interpretable and visually interesting.

Thank you very much to take the time to write all that :D
When I took the picture, I guess thought how it represented canada's logging industry but, I admit, I didn't go that into depth with it :)

Well in my opinion the best art is open to interpretation. For example I can think of about 3 meanings for Stairway to Heaven. Your picture can say a lot.

True, though probably not anywhere near a thousand words...

Yeah, that's one thing about a simple image like that, graphically it looks good, and while it might not be super complex or amazing visually there is a ton of meaning to it. Because you can pull multiple meanings from it, and apply it in several ways it has value beyond it's original image.

Don't get me wrong there is value to framing up an image in an interesting way, but take for example the pic of the fountain bowls on my page. It looks cool, but is there meaning behind it?

Artists these days tend to forget that, but art is about expression, not just cool imagery. It's the reason Goodwill Hunting is such a good movie when compared to transformers. Transformers has amazing effects, but what is the meaning behind it?

An idea is always more interesting than a photo. I like to believe that's why many of us are on dA. :)

You can't just forget the artistic part of an image- that's one of the most important parts. However, I don't think the framing on this image is particularly interesting or unique.
You could probably take some meaning from that photo; like the multiple layers of bowls represent all the places that water has been before it has come to you...

No all artist- you should check out the "Conceptual photography" category. I've found many amazing works in there. Art is supposed to send a message and I don't think that been lost, just, transformed into something different.
I never liked transformers. As for videos and movies that are just mindless- I don't consider those art.

Do you often see CanadiEn pennies anymore, or are they all just retired in piggy banks now?

They aren't in use anymore, but for use artists it means we can use they as art material so I'm trying to collect as many as I can ;) Possibly the create a sculpture :)
There's a lot you can't do with currency under canadian law, but now the penny's free game :D

Well, if really you don't want they you can give them back to the mint and I guess some of them have been melted down by now.
